The most eco-conscious vendors at ILTA

This year, in keeping with our green theme, we invited our exhibiting vendors to participate in a “Green Challenge”as part of our green initiatives at ILTA ‘08. Vendors were judged based on the eco-consciousness of their promotional items. The first-place winner took home a $1,000 credit toward advertising with ILTA. Congratulations!

1st Place: Ivize, for providing attendees with “leaves” printed on 30% recycled post-consumer waste paper. Ivize will donate $1 to the Arbor Day Foundation for every attendee who brought a leaf – completed with their contact information – to the Ivize booth and attached it to their “tree.”

2nd Place: Compuware, for donating an eco-friendly prize to the Vendor Bingo drawing. The prize consisted of bamboo bath towels and a bamboo robe, valued at $385.

3rd Place: Interwoven, for offering a number of eco-friendly promotional items including seed cards, coil-shake flashlights and 100% biodegradable Frisbees. At their party Wednesday night, Interwoven handed out lanyards made of recycled bamboo, used cups and napkins made of recycled material and offered a solar charger as a prize.

Thank you to all our vendors who participated.

Found wallet!

The concept of “Lost and Found” still works!

Aaron, your wallet was turned in at the reg desk on the ballroom level.  Please come by after lunch to retrieve it.

Looking for the recipe?

When you return to the office, we’re sure you’ll run through the list of conference highlights: the educational sessions, the networking events, the outstanding service, the salad dressing….

Yes, the salad dressing served on Tuesday night at the Asian Port of Call event has made quite an impression on a number of attendees. Per your request, Bridget Denby, director of catering for the Gaylord Hotel, generously shared her secret recipe. Enjoy!

Sesame Chestnut Vinaigrette
10-12 ppl

1 cup Soy Bean Oil
2 tbsp Soy Sauce
1 cup Rice Vinegar
2 tbsp Peanut Butter
¼ cup Lavender Honey
1 cup Olive oil
1 pinch red Pepper flakes
1 tbsp roasted black and white sesame seed
1 clove chopped roasted Garlic
½ cup Water Chestnut mousse
½ bundle fine chopped Green Onions

Mix all together in food processor until smooth and let rest for ½ hour. Great with Asian Salads as Dressing and perfect as Meat or Chicken marinade

Says Bridget: “You can get the mousse at any Asian market or and some natural food stores.  Lavender honey does have a unique flavor, but it is subtle. So replacing it with regular honey should not alter the taste drastically.”

We can hold your luggage

Checking out today but leaving later? We invite you to drop off your luggage in the Marble Foyer on the Exhibit floor. Identification tags will be provided by the resort for the stored luggage. While this service is free, the resort staff would probably appreciate a tip.

Why is everyone so … nice?

I admit it: This is my first ILTA conference. Mind you, I’ve been to several conferences before, some bigger, many smaller. But what strikes me at this conference is how nice people are. Everyone. Attendees, consultants,  vendors, staff and everyone else just seems happy to be here.

I’d been warned, but seeing it in action confirms it. There’s an energy here that comes from the excitement of new ideas and the enthusiasm of everyone in the conference center and exhibit hall. I wonder if other first-timers feel the same.

Tuesday night’s dazzling dinner

From a column marking the entrance to the evening

Once in a while, ILTAns like to kick back and focus on building friendships with their colleagues. We encourage that at conference; we think it’s important to offer you opportunities to get to know each other better outside of your offices.

And what a beautiful setting there was Tuesday night in the Texas Ballroom. The theme for the evening’s dinner, Asian Port of Call, played out in the room’s lighting and decor and on the tables in the form of a delicious meal and architectural dessert.

Almost too pretty to eat... I said, almost.
Almost too pretty to eat… I said, almost.

After dinner, we offered you lots of ways to play: “gambling” tables, pool, ping pong, arcade games and the dance floor beckoned, and ILTAns – never shy about showing off – answered the call.
